IN | Yes I agree with your findings on non gmo vs traited and the salesman of 30+ years was also shocked. It wasn’t a hybrid I walked a lot of so I can’t say for sure what caused the drop in yield unfortunately. None of the other non gmo numbers in the plot took a hit like it did so I think maybe it was just a fluke. I could possibly go out and do a stand count if I can find the rows to see if there was a population difference from corn borer or rootworm issues but it’ll be hard since we use devestators on the cornhead. Most times a hybrid is first brought out as conventional and then traits added to see if it can hold up. Sometimes they do and others they don’t. I think A642-32 is one number that traits might actually help.
We did a 15 acre Ag Reliant PCR plot this year and they just got done harvesting it yesterday. I won’t get plot data from them unfortunately due to company policy but they did tell me it was from 265-285. Probably could have made 300 on a lot of the trials if they did a better job harvesting! A lot of shelled corn on the ground but nature of the beast on those machines I guess. So sounds like GDM or Ag Reliant whoever you want to call them has some pretty solid products coming down the line soon | |
