SE Iowa | So I have some transmission high pressure gas mains across a field I rent. They are absolutely digging the crud out of the field I farm as people text me daily to ask what in the world is going on. Sounds like they had to replace joints and the works and they say they will compensate for three years worth of yield in the area of disturbance. I don’t own the field and the people paid for the original installation of the line are long passed away. What is fair in this situation. They have the right to maintain it but what should I ask of them for proper compensation. Also as they wrap this up how do I prep it for next season? Was bean stubble going to corn. Needs NH3 and dry spread. Figured I might chisel it but is it even worth it when these excavations are pretty deep. I also don’t know what tile could have been in there. How do you know or be sure any and all hit were repair to my standards? | |
