After seeing all the reports of how much fungicide paid off handsomely in most areas, where are the guys that earlier this year saying why throw more money at this crop? Maybe that's where the reports of terrible yields due to rust are coming from I guess.

And you may very well be right.... I havent heard of too many corn yields around here, but I believe corn is off from what everyone was expecting. Didnt really see a heavy disease pressure like we did last year either (tar spot). Im going to speculate that the guys telling us to not waste money on this crop were validated. The Market has a carryout problem, and more bushels are not going to solve that. It wont really matter if you have 300 bu/ac corn if they will only give you $2/bu for it. Is that a little extreme, yeah, maybe.... I dont know if the high rent guys are going to be able to bushel their way back into black ink this year or not. All it would take is for the china thing to escalate just a little, and the markets may find a new low. Then the other side of the coin is fertilizer prices...Landlords are going to insist that these guys cover their removal rates...and Dap just hit $971 per ton and anhydrous just hit $814 on average per DTN. The idea in lean times is to keep your head down and hope this all blows over. Last thing anybody needs is a huge Fertilizer bill, on top of rent, and poor revenue to pay it with.
