I think maybe the late emergence on some of the numbers mainly the early 100-106 day numbers could have had a little impact on yield but not nearly as much as I was expecting them to. Overall I was very pleased with the results of the early corn. The plot list goes from 117 day at the beginning down to 100 day at the end. We don’t raise early numbers very often here usually 105 day is about as early as we care to go. But 240s from stuff in the 102-103 day numbers was impressive.

The blue soil type is Del-Rey. It’s a reddish orange sandy colored ground that typically doesn’t do the greatest. Even though it is sandy, it acts very much like a clay in its water holding capacity. It works up very cloddy most years and is the first to die off when August turns dry. Pulling 200 bushel corn is considered good in these spots and this year with the dry finish a lot of fields in those areas pulled 150-180bu.
