Thst is exactly what would scare me. I want nothing to do with 28%
Corn in late October. No drying system here only natural air in bins. And elevators dont really dry much here anymore, no one wants it over 18% or turn ya away. Extra yield be great but give it all away drying corn that wet that close to November. But im sure many others think different.

Location matters for sure. But I think you are misunderstanding me. In a normal year, 28pct corn in NE Iowa on October 15th - is expected especially on full season corn. That's would be normal historically. Most people have a dryer of some sort although they may not like using it. This year, most of the corn around here has been dead for at least a month. I have heard rumors alot of corn is around 15 pct. I assure you that historically here, harvesting corn that died before September 10th is not something you go to the coffee shop and brag about. Its something you hope you aren't the only guy doing it. So all we did was allow the crop to mature normally. We did not extend its kernel fill past its expected GDU maturity. We allowed the crop to do what it was supposed to do, and a $4.90 cent per acre treatment twice from weedman allowed it. It didn't need to have the cadillac price tag.

Take care
