SW Saskatchewan | Say, that is neat.
Liked the trademark image- I presume your machine has the slide shuttle as I think that is what is represented in the centre of the trademark.
Mom had had and old White sewing machine with the slide shuttle- a long time ago style.
My wife had bought an old sewing machine at an auction sale years ago for an antique (they aren't a good investment-too many made) but we later found out the story of the machine that made it all the more precious.
Seems that after WWI, the Liverpool Improvement Society (in jolly old England) was attempting to encourage the emigration of the lower classes to the colonies. One of the enticements was a coupon that could be redeemed for a new Singer sewing machine once the family had landed in Montreal.
During the '30s, that sewing machine has supported the wife, now widowed, and her teenage family. A grandson who was a business partner of a friend of mine discovered we had the old Singer and now it occupies a prized location in his office.
Thanks for posting your project. | |
