| It may make sense to keep them, for instance if you have a value added market into next year as a hamburger/roasts, if you have a lot of feed that will deteriate over time. I am still struck by the number of round bales we saw in piles that were 2-3 years old in the Dakotas back in the summer of 2015. It can be a way to market your extra feed.
I know of a guy who was feeding steers who has now started buying cows at 1.50-1.55 ish feeding them and selling them as fat cows for slaughter .
