EC SD | I use Schwab for brokerage services, including futures and options on agriculture commodities. The fees are low if you place the trades online yourself, but you can pay a bit higher fee and place the orders over the phone. Either way, much cheaper than most other ways, including using your local coop.
Placing hedges directly through a brokerage gives you more flexibility for when and where to deliver physical. Write basis contracts when you want to make a commitment to deliver to a specific location.
I deliver grain to about 7 different locations within a reasonable distance. Let their basis bids determine when and where... Who wants it? The basis tells the story!! Sometime the processors outbid the rail loaders and sometimes it is the other way around... | |
