Subject: Yield monitors. Chicken or the egg?

Late into harvest and I’ve realized something about yield monitors.
Seems as though everyone is interested in the monitor, except for me, the farmer himself.
Seed guy, landlords, family members, employees, etc.
Everyone wants to know what the monitor is showing, and I am at the point I couldn’t care less. I’m just trying to keep everything running enough to get the crop from the stalk to the bin.

To carry this thought further, I wondered was the farmer the man pushing for the first yield monitors? Or was it the farm supply companies that saw how it would value them, and therefore they made a good sales effort to the farmer??

How many things do we as farmers buy that we think we need but in reality perhaps we were just merely the market for a good sales job?
