Southeast WI
You're not a bad guy at all. Here with long term no-till drilling is the only sure-fire way to get an even stand established. Too many predators take seed away and ruin stands with other establishment methods. We've tried dropping seed from sky at different times via plane or fert spreader and results have been from no plants to very ragged stands. Slugs, nightcrawlers, ground beetles, rodents all remove seed or germinating plants when they aren't tucked in at 1-1.5" deep at the start of life.
