For now I will stick with the proven pressure canning or water bath methods for perishable vegetables and meats that allowed you to store without refrigeration. The commercials being shown on TV are misleading and could cause one to be very sick or dead.
No, vacuum sealing and canning are not the same. Canning involves heating food in jars to kill bacteria and create a vacuum seal, while vacuum sealing simply removes air from the jar without heat, which does not provide the same long-term preservation benefits as canning.
