EC IL | My frustration is with the situation you described vs the actual problem.
You are trying to be the leader in this situation, and your dad seems to believe you have too few skills to communicate effectively, so to shut you up... he just gets loud. In fact, if I were him, on just the one fact that you openly disrespect him by trying to pit your mom against him (saying she agrees to run late), I would not honor your wishes either.
Your farm equipment description would lead most of us to believe that your parents have supplied all the tools needed to do all the work during daylight hours at their discretion.
You are in a much worse place relationship-wise than you realize simply because this is your parents you are talking about. Distance and time are your friend when it comes to stopping frustration before it leads to further disrespect on your part, so go get a job in town. Your parents will be just fine for the next 10 years hiring someone who agrees with their daylight-only work practices.
Learning whom to follow is an important step in learning how to lead. You are not displaying lead-dog behavior yet, and your parents know that.
I am not being critical. Many of us have all been there, me included.
