SW WI | Mentioning AOC brings something to mind.
Much press has been given to Trump wanting “ loyalty” from other office holding republicans, especially congress. I think a similar quiet purge of moderate Democrats happened also. My congressional district had a long serving Democratic, that at the start of his tenure, seamed liberal. By the time he no longer ran, he was a moderate Democrat and regularly worked with the other side. He seemingly abruptly didn’t seek reelection around 2020. The democratic candidates in a primary were more of the Pelosi, AOC, Sanders camp. The Republican, who won, is a Trump guy. This is in a very evenly split district which could flip each and every 2 year election cycle.
A moderate from either party would win hands down…..but seems the powers that be don’t want their person working with “ the enemy” even though that is what the district voters would want.
A long way of saying our founding fathers warned us it would be messy at times.
I hope the powdered wig, high silk sock wearing gents…are still the smartest guys in the room and still have this right.
