I've always spread my own fertilizer but for 30 years rented the dealers spreader. Half the time I worked on the "ready to go" spreader they gave me and then paid them to use it. About 10 years ago they got serious about the spreader use. I think now locally it's $8 a ton. 5 years ago we bought our own spreader. It paid for itself in 2 years. Get your own spreader. It pays like tile and a sprayer.
