Hello,
I am looking for opinions and/or strategies on what to do with excess corn bushels, that I do not have marketed and do not have storage for. The near term basis is 0.68 at the nearest elevator for reference. With the basis appreciation further out and the carry in the market, I am half way thinking of just piling the corn (or if I can somehow find a bagger yet).
- Mainly just looking for others thoughts/opinions on what you are doing if you did not have enough sold ahead of time.
- Basis contract, price later, other??
- Fairly familiar with futures trading as well, so if you have strategies there, I love to hear it as well.
Thanks!
I’m leaning ground pile also but I’m also waiting on the weather. I Want it cold. Ground pile to me is a 45-50 day temp storage only - get in on a potential Dec early Jan basis push.
I’ve seen enough dead raccoons and 30# chunks of 4 inch concrete on the grates at the dump pits along with frozen boulders of blackened rotten corn from the coops piles so I’m in an “ef’ it, let’s do it too” mood |
