Sometimes but not always. When loading I find it's easier to get 3-4 to move up the alley than 6-8. Same way when unloading, easier to start and keep a smaller group moving. If I'm somewhere I can load or unload with the full width swing gate I don't use the cut gate. Right or wrong you can pack them in tighter without the cut gate. No shame in hauling a smaller load.
