Eastern NE KS | I think you can. We like to use the cut gate to hold the load like a bookend holds books. Absolutely not as tight as books but our plan is in anticipation of hard braking stop.
One positive to a loose load is more air flow between animals, potentially a more comfortable ride. The downside is more wallowing around in the trailer leading to a push-pull and/or side to side sway of the whole trailer. With thoughtful driving you can handle all that. An emergency stop could throw an animal off his feet. (At least that's my father's concern that I follow.)
Now, you are considering a personal accommodation because you are not as quick as you once were. Smart man. Getting pinched or run over in a trailer is not a fun thing.
Last thought, I have found I'm slowing down too. Getting up into the trailer and closing the cut gate is sometimes iffy. Perhaps we need a low loading ramp. I'm sure I could enter the trailer much easier when it is a minimum step up instead of over a foot would really help me. | |
