I try to trick em. Go home for supper and put kids to bed. Then go bale hay until 3 and get up for work at 6. Not sustainable long term but works in short bursts.
If we’re harvesting cotton or wheat wife brings them with supper for a ride while we eat. Since I can only run so long and can’t afford to shut down for hour and a half, but short bursts again there too. I don’t do a lot in the dark besides harvest.
I have a big old combine and can cut all my wheat in a few days easy. Same with cotton few days. When it’s custum work with those I don’t usually run crazy hours. Hay is what’s crazy hours chasing the right moisture.
I know. But you do whatever ya have to. Ran that ragged schedule for 30 years. Really hard when your kids say to you "the only thing you do is work". |
