Subject: RE: Drying corn

Scranton
We have a half dozen older style behlen bins with the sealed eaves and really strong roofs. We fill them to the actual peak. Once in a while a little corn will blow out the air vents. We never level newer style bins either. No room. We fill them till the corn is almost ready to run out of eaves. No where to level any of these bins.

Last year at 12 percent (60+ tw) I didn't figure it would be possible to draw any moisture out of that corn and I didn't want 11 percent corn. Lesson learned.

Edit: My corn was all harvest after the 3 week rain spell in november so mid to late november. It should have been cool enough as we had problems with the ground freezing for tillage during the same period.
