Central IL | Had a small shower a couple weeks ago and dug a couple shovels of dirt to make sure the combine tires weren't going to smear the surface. Looks like just the right moisture for these fungi threads to show up. This field gets anhydrous every other year and 2 or more shots of fungicide each summer. Apparently the earthworms and fungi don't mind too much.
Now if I only had a way to quantify how much benefit they are providing to my crops.
