I bet they get huge rate reductions for their sheer size. But in the end, the power suppliers have to build more infrastructure to accommodate the new use of power. They don't build that for free.


I think most HUGE new loads will have to pay for the upgrades that it will take to accommodate them, at least around here anyway.

They seem to have no limit to money, so spending millions to get the electricity they need is no big deal.

As to rates, I'd guess it would be based off of certain margins the supplier wants to make. A large load running at 80 or 90% of its capacity all the time is better than a bunch of grain dryers and bins running at 100% capacity for 30 or 45 days a year.
