Subject: Ford/NH 9682 hydraulic problems running an air drill help

Kansas
I’ve had this tractor and JD air drill for 15 years and it used to work great. Hydraulic capacity seems to be falling.

When I start the tractor it seems the hydraulic pump has lost its prime and I can’t steer. If I drive and try to turn the wheel it will prime itself and work.

We have put a new suction hose on the top side of the reservoir with 2 heavy duty clamps and that doesn’t seem to help.

Was at a medium low idle filling seed with the cart auger and when I hopped in It didn’t have any steering till I moved some.

The 2 filters under the radiator have just been replaced with the same kind I have always used.

Do I have a priority valve or something not working? Or do I have a pump or 2 going bad?

15 years ago I could run the fan at 5,000 Rpm. Last couple years 3,700 rpm is the most I can get out of it. Today it is raising the drill much slower.

1998 model with 8,300 hours. Been on an air drill most of its life.
