| It really depends on your local market. Here a vast majority of the crop goes straight to elevator and they know it so basis is terrible at harvest. In this market bins pay just on basis appreciation alone. In an area where there is lots of on farm storage and elevator options then those elevators need to bid competitive at harvest. Here gaining 50 cents on corn by trucking it 20 miles further 2 months later is pretty normal. | |
