north central Ohio
Just do some basic math. Look at what basis is out of field and cash price vs storing to January. Gernerally there is a consistent amount to be made around here. Storing to summer lately has not paid well or like it did 20+ years ago. Dryer pays well here and keeps things moving well but sounds like you may have good close selling points and this isn't as much of a concern. Go look at some different grain setup's in your area to get ideas. Take ideas to couple local grain builders and see what they can come up with and do the math and if the risk is in your best interest. We run a GSI top dryer which has enabled us to get by with one leg elevator. There are ways to get a very efficent systems without spending excessively. Price different bins and figure per bushel price you might be susprised big bins are cheaper then smaller ones per bushel.
