| The Republican senators are complaining about the subsidies for healthcare are being given to illegal immigrants. The federal government does not subsidize for illegal immigrant health insurance. When anyone, regardless of immigration status, does not have health insurance visits to ER rise since they cannot be turned away. Some states have paid for the health care subsidies for illegal immigrants, but never at federal level.
The Republican response to not wanting to tie healthcare subsidies to the CR bill, is that illegal immigrants would be getting that money. This is a false narrative. It would only be correct if the federal government is not enforcing the laws they have in place. | |
