hire a lot of mediocre grain cart operators
Back in the 1960s, and before, one could find at the local beer hall someone to do plowing work.
My relative hired a mediocre driver in the late 1970s to drive a new single axle grain truck with about 400 bushel load if fully loaded...tall sides. Having AC, he sat on the train tracks near the elevator, and when the train came, other trucks moved so he could have moved the truck, but he got out, and the new GMC truck was totaled.
