While I can understand how you could have taken it in the absolute literal sense, now that I told you that it was not said in the absolute literal sense, which is a completely valid way to say it also, you are still using that strategy.
That leads me to ask why you entered this conversation in the first place. You are continuing to use what I say, incorrectly, in the most literal sense. Yet you have shown no sign of applying that standard to him when he claims that Christianity always leads to authoritarian rule. Which is actually the conversation that this side track stems from.
Holding people to different standards is actually another tactic that can can be learned from the political opposition. You are leading by example.
