East of Broken Bow | Here in Nebraska, at least where I live, since I had a combine with a yield monitor, I have seen the highest yielding parts of the field have higher grain moisture content than the lower yielding parts of the field. This makes sense as here most of the time a yield reduction is due to lack of water, but this year the wettest (highest grain moisture) parts of the field are also the lowest yielding, and not by a tiny bit.
We are talking all time high yields in the part of the field that test 21-22%, and yields 50 BPA less where it tests 26%+ (this is on the same pass down the rows of my cornfield).
I know this year was 'different' but I've never seen this before. Oh, and the lower yielding parts seem to also have slightly greener stalks, at least from the combine seat. | |
