That map is not from 2023. Has to be from at least 10 years ago. There are 4 shuttle loaders within 35 miles of me this map only shows one.
And considering we have zero PNW bid the basis is holding better than expected. Right now it is 40 cents worse than the typical historical harvest basis. Which is not ideal of course but 40 cents merits a "crisis"?
There are two new crush plants that need half of the state's bushels. And there are trains getting booked to Mexico and St. Louis to NOLA via barge. So beans are going to move somewhere eventually even if none go to China.
Don't forget ND is a huge soybean producing state (8th in the US). It is a well adapted crop here and I don't think we're ever going back to the days of wheat, barley, sunflowers and CRP. If you think soybeans look bad take a look at wheat or barley. And on the topic of Barley ND lost 2 huge malt plants so that option of the past is dead forever now.
