Subject: RE: Is anybody using CaseIH Cart Automation?

Cedar Rapids, Iowa
I ran it one season. Both machines get a module and a radio so they can communicate. The Tractor gets put into ISObus steering mode, so it gets an ISObus steering unlock as part of the package. The GPS receiver on both machines needs to be a good signal such as RTK, CenterPoint RTX, or AFS3.

It was pretty neat to see. Works great on straight passes and slight curves, but you can't do tighter curves. It would be slick if your cart tractor operator is a rookie since it will make a rookie look like an alright operator. However, they still have to be good enough to unload the cart onto the truck without hitting the truck. An experienced cart operator can maneuver the cart faster than the computer can. We didn't buy it since it won't make our operation more profitable and we already have a good cart operator in the seat anyway (me). The unexpected downside to using cart automation was that being in the cart tractor was boring and I found myself almost falling asleep while next to the combine.
