Eastern VA. No such thing as too many Magnums.
The pipes have rubber gaskets. We put slip lube on them and push them together with the excavator. Takes about 2 seconds after the guys line them up for me. The straps are just looped on there so the guys at the top can help lower them down in the ditch. I'm guessing the pipes probably weight around 150 lbs each? Thats a guess, but two guys seem to get along with them moving them around. They are 12" pipes for a flow of 1500 gal/min. We like to have a minimum of 4 feet of dirt over them. 5 feet is better just in case we do some leveling and scrape some down. As far as freeze protection, 2 feet would be plenty, but we bury them deep so we have no chance of hooking them with rippers. The wire is 4 strands of 4-0 aluminum inside the conduit, along with the pump control wire. This particular pipe was about 3000 feet from the pump.
