S Illinois | Why does it not get approval? Or why do they not collect the NG in the first place? Sounds more like economics as it would take a ton of flared oil wells to pool enough NG to run an AA plant. And highly likely if it was economical to use in a AA plant, they would have already been collecting the NG to put into the pipeline system.
Edit: Many of the flaring wells in S IL had cost issues to get it collected, scrubbed and cleaned so it could be put into the pipelines which are somewhat numerous in IL. Cheaper to flare than collect. Some would run line for personal furnaces/need but to get it prepped for pipelines just never was worth it.
