Subject: RE: freedom to farm 2.0

in the past, a Midwest politician would get the endorsements of a the county Farm Bureaus and they were golden. but that was a generation or two ago, we are more removed from the land, even in Iowa, des Moines , Iowa city, ames, cedar rapids decorah they flat out don`t like agriculture or don`t approve of the current model. so, far the ag lobby and more urban lobby's play well in the sandbox, so long as they get 85% of the farm bill, but if they notice $50 billion in farm bailouts, they`ll began to question what their constituents are getting in return.

it seems every farmer they stick a microphone under his nose, he says "we don`t want bailouts, we want markets!" that`s well & good but there isn`t markets to be had. I just don`t see we go on 3 more years where the public is okay with these $20 billion payments, especially if the national debt hits $45 trillion. there`s 3 or maybe more "buckets" one of what we`d like to get, one of what`s possible to get and one of what we`ll probably get. seems to me if we really want to get government out, we should have a farm program that moves towards that goal, if nothing else to keep the urban natives from getting too restless. :-)
