if I had a 5 year heads up, I believe that I really could position myself to weather any storm short of a global nuclear war, Yellowstone explode, meteor strike, polar shift ECT. you just would have to be out of debt or very small debt and watch the inputs and I mean get out the pencil & paper where perhaps it would be more economically viable to let southern rust have 30 bushel of your yield or aphids taking 10 bushel of your beans instead of "i`m putting on 40lbs extra N as insurance , i`m spraying insecticide as a precaution, i`m spraying fungicide as a precaution" we`ve fallen into a lot of expensive practices when we know revenue assurance crop insurance guarantees 85% of your aph and the higher of spring or fall prices. i`m in the same hamster wheel when that $1,000/acre plus or minus guarantee is on the line, i`ll be the first to put on more N and $40 fungicide to protect it.
