5 years should be sufficient to reorganize and prepare with the goal of going cold turkey. if you live in a drought area, maybe it`s time to be realistic and go back to pasture and Milo, maybe during the juicy 5 years of programs improve irrigation. if you live in a ground zero of torrential rains (like me) take those juicy 5 yr payments and tile more or be realistic and not swing for the bleachers on yield. maybe sell a farm, maybe take off farm job, maybe invest in a value added market source.

I guess if we get behind the 8-ball then other people will decide (ending farm programs) for us. on deals like this, it`s always better getting out on your own terms. just my opinion[/QUOTE

Isn't this what manufacturing has been doing, be realistic and downsize and work somewhere else? Like maybe move the work to another country. Lets be realistic we cant produce a john deere tractor in the USA, strawberries, avocados, pickup trucks, etc etc etc in the USA competitively so lets move production to a 3rd world county or a country that the drug cartels run businesses to launder money.

Maybe this thread should be renamed "Freedom to Geopolitical Dependency"
