Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska | So far, no one is held accountable. Pretty much an act of God.
We had a fire 3 years ago in the Spring. Another one 20 miles away less than 2 weeks prior. Both electrical fires started by power lines. After seeing fires that can’t be stopped, those that experienced it shut down harvest now in high winds.
These fires became big in a hurry. First one burned over 20,000 acres in 4 hours. The one we were affected by burned 45,000 acres in 6 hours. And had flare ups as the wind changed directions the next day. Something we never want to see again. Still living with the reduced productivity of those fields. |
