Mohawk Indiana | The original Freedom to Farm was really the only part of Newt Gingrich’s Contract with America that made it to law pretty much unscathed.
Most of the rest of it either never got passed or was watered down quite a bit.
That being said I’m glad that we got away from the set aside type programs.
It wasn’t long until things got tight as they inevitably do that we were getting double payments.
Currently we can’t even pass any kind of Farm Bill that doesn’t really change anything.
I just don’t see it happening.
The current Farm bill is about the furthest thing from a safety net that it could be.
