If my memory is right you can see this gear if you take off the reverse idler gear cover , its the last gear on the pinion shaft, which would be closest to the actual pinion gear that meshes with the ring gear but not in the same housing compartment . take a flash light a look upward and to the back with the cover off, the teeth can also be broken off if somone put it in park while its still rolling, You may have to roll the tractor a little to get the gear to rotate so yoy can see the missing tooth or teeth, FWIW, if there are two teeth next to each other gone I would not use the tractor, the good part about this is if you do this yourself you will know everything about a international rer end from a 706 to a 1486
