Northern Nebraska | It could change it probably should change. 1927 was the year that for the first time the rural population fell below 50%. So in 1933 when the FSA was formed it was very important for the entire economy for the government to support farms. Production ag is now .11% of the population it makes almost no sense to prop up this industry compared to any other facet of the economy. There are 7.5x more cashiers than production farmers in the United States.
Maybe Hick is correct. Maybe it's the small holder farm that needs to be the focus now.
