That’s the biggest line of bull that the farmer has made up ever.. Sorry but that just making up an excuse for farmer welfare.

I’m with Papa.

IF you believe the economic upcycling that KS Jon “quotes” about for $1 of corn, wheat, beans generates $10 of value during its processing/partitioning, THEN why is this the biggest load of bull? Whether that $1 comes from a govt check, a stimulus check, or actual net profit - frankly, I don’t think matters how it flows through and generates “value” through the rest of the economy. Dollars have no conscience or soul.

Either the checkoffs and the university & govt economists are misrepresenting the value generated by ag, or the $$$ cycling figures aren’t bullshat.

Does the rural and farm country have a lot of lobbyists in DC? Sure. Are the farm /rural lobby as powerful as environmental lobby and big energy? No, I don’t think so.

Now, if you want to argue as to why we have massive monoculture crops instead of a more diversified cropping system, you can blame that BS on commodity group lobbies, govt loan programs/target prices/“insurance”, input herbicide &bug technology & yield breeding, Ag equipment automation and precision and economies of scale - all these are a creator to and benefactor of the others in concert.
