Man, I see stuff like this all the time in YouTube comments on farm-related videos and in other social media, and I don't get where this hostility comes from. Maybe it comes from anger and resentment that the "wrong" person won an election? I just know it isn't helping solve the problem.

I think you totally misunderstood papa's point. The situation isn't that much different than the student loan debacle - government assistance to one group ends up with a whole ecosystem being built behind it vacuuming up the money. Why do you think nitrogen prices are based on corn futures instead of the cost to produce that nitrogen, for example? The farmer ends up like a student - worse off than before.
