| With the engine off there must be zero freeplay in the clutch pedal. There is a ball joint on the other end of the cable that could be loose or worn out if there is any freeplay. Cannot be any freeplay. I have never seen that area so dirty. Maybe take a power washer and wash out all the crap inside that big spring canister. Maybe there's so much dirt inside the spool spring cannot allow the spool to stroke far enough to apply the trans brake.
