NE Iowa
When I was in the market a few years ago, it was amazing how many '06 & later had new engines. I think due to cylinder liner issues on early 9L engines. I think the 9L also had a variable geometry turbo that wasn't exactly a picture of great reliability. I narrowed my search to an 05 or older just to get the 8.1L engine. Have heard mixed reviews about the bullet rotor (which I didn't get) - never heard anything bad about it, but have heard not really much difference than non-bullet, at least in corn/bean country. I ended up with a 9760 with high unload rate - can't imagine have a lower unload rate.
