Im going to take a guess here on whats causing your back pain......I have the 1680 with the Grammer seat. Its a nice seat for sure, but its not the seat that causes me problems...Its the position of the grain table. My machine sits up pretty high, and the header even with a rock trap and the long feeder house is sitting clear down by my feet in the window. I find myself leaning forward to see over the steering column, or to see the RH end of the platform. I can start to feel it in my lower back area after a few hours.

You know that's probably a big part of it I hadn't thought of. I'm constantly leaned forward to see the cutterbar. My back doesn't bother me as much shelling corn and I always thought it was because I'm getting out of the combine a lot more often because I have to dump my own semi but maybe it's got more to do with being able to see the corn head without leaning.

I never had any back pain problems, but I understand the header placement.

I remember years ago when I helped a neighbor and ran his Deere. It felt like the header was in the next county; it was several feet farther forward.
