| The mechanical N14 was only available in ‘91 as far as I know. (That’s in trucks, they made it longer in off road applications). The easiest way to tell them from an 855 at a glance is the 855 has an intercooler and the N14 has an air to air cooler. Then you have the N14 select (black top) which is full electronic control. In ‘97 they introduced the select plus, which is the red top engine. Basically the plus was an improved ECM with significantly more programmable parameters. Contrary to popular belief, just because it is a red top doesn’t mean it’s a high horsepower engine, it only indicates it is a later model. They are all very good engines. | |
