| For an all around low use farm truck, I would get an 855 if I could.
Just less wires for the mice. The down side is those old girls are pretty old, unless you luck into a glider.
I never owned one but have been around a couple red tops. Both were good engines and ran well over a million miles.
The front covers can leak and take a lot of labor to seal backup, but on a 10,000 mile a year truck, used on the farm, a few drops of oil is OK.
Tommy, I really liked the M 11 I had. 0-60 was pretty good. Anything over that and just OK.
Of course I just got out of a truck with a 3176 when I moved in to the one with the M 11.
They were a good engine under 350 hp. Keep the crankcase vent open and the radiator clean helped.
Mine was good until a driver made a few speed runs. It just wasn't made to turn in 80 mph average trip speed pulling heavy and tall.
