can be set up nc or no to activate function.
Yes and No. With an Application Rate Module which might be used for coverage mapping, there is a menu choice that allows the operator to switch from one to the other in the configuration setup.
With most other modules such as a Liquid Product Control module, Clutch Control Module and other application modules, there is no menu choice. The connection between two pins must be complete for application to be active. If an implement switch is not going to be used an implement switch jumper must be used. This is often Pin 10 (implement switch signal) and pin 12 (12 Volts) on the Auxiliary Port of the module.
If an implement switch is used, it may be mounted two ways. One way, the switch is contacted when the implement is raised or it might be easier to mount it so the switch is contacted when the implement is in the lowered or operating position. This is where a Normally Open or Normally Closed switch becomes involved..
Some implement switches are Normally Open, others Normally Closed, yet others allow a choice.
Some switches have a removable cover that exposes 3 terminals. You would use the Common and either the N.O. terminal or the N.C. terminal depending on your situation. Since this is confusing to many, Ag Leader sells a switch that has two pigtails on it. You use whichever pigtail gives you the correct action.
I use Deere planter button switches on my planter. These are N.C. push button switches (opposite of a door bell switch). That means when the planter is raised, gravity pulls the seed box to drop to a mechanical stop and also pushes the button which breaks the circuit. When the planter is lowered to plant, the box is lifted above the mechanical stop and releases the button which completes the circuit. This informs my Clutch Module and Liquid Product Control module that the planter is in the planting position since the output from the button switch goes to pin 10 on both modules.
I use a jumper on the Liquid Product Control module in my sprayer since unlike the planter it is not raised or lowered to start/stop the action.
I believe the newest L2 module for sprayers does not require an implement switch or jumper although a module is available for those situations where it would be desirable.
