Northeast Missouri | Regardless, I recall some beautiful 100+ acre pastures in N. MO / S. Iowa that were converted to corn due to the (artificial) demand created by the ethanol subsidies. And of course with fences and watering systems now gone, they won't easily go back to grass.
So the ethanol subsidies were responsible for a whole bunch of the conversion of forage land to row crops. And now we are left with the political football of RFS blend requirements & blender credits ...so the non-market-driven legacy of the ethanol subsidies is still with us, just in a different form.
