Barry County, MI
If you weren't raised on a cattle farm . my guess you wont want anything to do with cattle .When I was a kid I had to work a job to get the cattle going so no picnic with this high tensile fence for 2 strands electric fence is not a big deal
have a friend that has 10s of thousands of acres and hot wire does it . Plus most farmers today figure if you cant do it from the seat of a tractor its not worth doing
move forward to now we plan for the farm we have to support several cows and calves and finish and sell direct to consumers .
we have the water and the climate and ground that will grow corn for dry feed and clover and alfalfa spelts oats. and lots of it. don't have to fight the weeds in the alfalfa or bugs make 4 or 5 cuttings if necessary. rapped hay some ear corn and spelts for feed and bedding . been there done the silage thing high moisture thing don't need it
feed on concrete and bed straw pack. lots of manure to spread plow the clover down
be satisfied with just making a living
