Western, New York | Our area is the same I'm not old enough to remember but if you look through vintage aerial around our town there was a ton of small dairy farms. Now I think I am one of maybe half a dozen who raise cattle here . It seems like alot of small homesteads are popping up with chickens, etc. but no new cattle producers from what I can tell. it takes alot to be able to make it happen from scratch, most small farmers mike myself in the area rent multiple different small parcels to make hay, and most of the reason we get them is because they are too small or too gnarly terrain to plant corn, soybeans or wheat on. | |
